Trip to Camp Wildwood 2008 - Part 2

Happy Birthday, Max!
He turned one on Wednesday of the week -- so, of course, we celebrated.

Birthday dinner

Kara, Max & Brian

In their defense, I asked for cheesy smiles -- Max' was the best (-: -- I promise he smiles but he was battling an ear infection -- poor little guy.

Dennis & Shannon Dane -- long-time friends of the family [their mom (mother-in-law) Annette and Nancy are best friends] came down from their cabin to join in the celebration. Annette & Bill were also there, but I didn't get a picture.

I included this photo because, seriously, look at Brian's legs -- what is it with men and sunblock? I must give my husband props for going along with my sunblock fastidiousness. And he came away with barely a burn anywhere. (Both boys were also burn-free -- hurray! -- You just can't mess around with sun and red-heads.)

New toys!

Atticus gets a ride in the fishing boat. It was a beautiful sunset ride from one end of the lake to the other (lengthwise) . Atticus and I rode at the helm with the wind in our teeth. He was very tired, past bedtime, but quietly, seriously enjoyed the speed of the boat and the water and even the wind.

Atticus watched only one movie (and only once) the entire week -- Finding Nemo. A nice Grandpa break on a rainy afternoon. He was having a rough stretch here and refused to take his life jacket off.

Atticus brought some of his little animals. The story behind this scene is that these trees on this edge of the lake are where Brad and Kara spent many a childhood vacation hour in adventure- packed hi-jinx with their he-man figurines. Yes, it is true. And so Brad wanted to see if he could plant a seed of creative figurine adventure by bringing these guys out to the water's edge with Atticus.
