Visiting Grandma Nancy at Albert Lea State Park

Saturday we met Grandma Nancy down at the Albert Lea State Park. It was an absolutely beautiful sunny, warm fall day. No bugs. We saw a flock of wild female turkeys. Brad found a lovely striped frog. A tiny pale-yellow snake leisurely crossed our path. A field mouse jumped out and surprised us. And the light was washed out sunlit like a 70's old photograph. Atticus had so much fun walking and riding in his red wagon (that he's still in love with -- thank you Grandpa Gary and Grandma Susan!). It'd been a couple months since we'd been able to get together with Nancy -- she and Tom are SO busy and we've been trying to "lay low". So this was a perfectly relaxing day. brad took Atticus and I out for breakfast before we left. Then Atticus took a perfectly-timed morning nap on the ride down and, again, perfectly-placed late-afternoon nap on our way back. And we still had time to do grocery shopping and household chores in the evening. And Brad and I had some "Monk Time" (we're on a kick watching the detective show Monk).

Brad trying to catch the pretty frog.

Do any of you know what kind of mushroom these are? (Olga? Jedidiah? Dad?)

Where's your tummy? About the only thing he would do for Grandma -- wouldn't say any of his words or point to any other face parts -- wouldn't even give Grandma one of his real kisses he does now. Rascal.

Oh how he loves cars...

Brad loved these great gnarled oak trees. (What kind are they, tree people?)

Again, a wonderful plant we found -- leaves soft as lamb ears. what is it? I'll try to find out for any of you who are curious.
