To celebrate the first day of summer break, the kids and I went to the Wild Rumpus bookstore to visit the animals there and each kid got to pick out a new book. Then we went across the street to the toy store and the kids used the allowance (and chore money for the younger ones) to buy a few inexpensive toys -- Chinese handcuffs, punch balloons, cap torpedo and an accessory for the play kitchen. A couple stores down is Sebastian Joe's ice cream shop. So we ate the picnic lunches I'd brought for us and then headed over for some ice cream. It was a lovely morning. |

Awww, such a sweet summer-starting outing! I'll have to check out Wild Rumpus with Owen - he is loving on animals these days!
