Death Man and the Happy Ending

Lincoln has been doing these neat/strange chalk people this week. This one is his first one, called "Crazy Hair Guy".

Then, Mohawk Guy

And, The Archer
Sitting Man

"Cyclops Family at the Playground"

I had to add two more of the same drawing because these poses of Lincoln (which he requested) are so great.

"Cyclops by Himself"

"Death Man" -- who is able to kill anyone or anything he touches with his death feet -- he sucks their blood and bones out of them.

The drawn blue line connects Death Man to all the other guys thereby killing everything the line touches. They all die. But Lincoln says, "That's okay, Mom, because they all knew Jesus and so they go to be with him. It's a happy ending, really." Rough way to go, though.

Thea Belle, because she was there and she's cute.

Drawing continues today...This guy is Sword Throwing Guy. He has rainbow colored swords all over his whole body and he can throw them at will.

My Sunflowers...

So back at the end of our long wintery spring, I had the kids plant some sunflower seeds along the side of the house. And they have grown beautifully! Yay! The first one that bloomed was brutally hacked down by my boys with a makeshift slingshot/boomerang. And then as I was attempting to rescue it for a vase, something involving a butter knife and a prolonged distraction on my part, ended up in it being cut into approximately 52 pieces. Argh. BUT -- more blooms came. And boy are those spectacular "faces" heavy -- three have fallen over and I've been able to get them into vases. They make me so happy. And I didn't know that sunflowers smell totally like candy -- like sweet-tarts. Mmmm.

(And despite one of my picture frames -- see the "naked" print of minneapolis -- again being broken into smithereens by one of the many banned indoor toys, I decided to put the biggest flower on the mantel. I can't help it. So pretty.)

And a couple smaller ones above my sink...contented sigh...

Lincoln & Thea Belle's First Day of Preschool 2013

Yesterday Lincoln began his 2nd year of preschool and Thea Belle began her first year. Brad was able to duck out of a meeting early and stop by to send them off before he headed back over to work. Yay! Thea Belle loved it -- all of it. Despite the cheerfulness in these photos, Lincoln started crying in the car on the way there and began sobbing by the time we were in the classroom. He misses Dietrich so much he can barely stand it. He said there is no one who is as fun to play with as Dietrich and that he doesn't even want to make any new friends. Thea Belle came over to try and comfort him. She said she'd play cars or blocks or any "boy" thing he wanted. I held Lincoln for awhile and then I left. It was so hard to see him struggling and for such a sweet reason.
